I am an Assistant Professor of Environmental Studies at FLAME University, Pune, India, where I conduct research on environmental policy, governance, and communication. Before joining FLAME University, I was a Post-Doctoral researcher in the Terrestrial Hydrology group (Water and Ecosystems) at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. My research at JPL explored socioeconomic dimensions of freshwater availability in connection to tracking and quantifying human impacts on the water cycle. In my dissertation research and collaborative projects, I have examined the role of information in stakeholder communication and the role of evidence and risk perception in the policy process in diverse areas including climate change policy, disaster and hazards, water governance, and food systems governance.

I received my Ph.D. in Environmental Studies (policy emphasis) from the University of Colorado Boulder, an M. A. in English (Literature and Environment emphasis) from University of Nevada, Reno, and a B.A. and M.A. in English Literature from University of Pune, India. I have also completed a Post-graduate diploma in Sustainable Management of Natural Resources and Conservation from the Ecological Society, Pune, India. I have previously worked with the International Center for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), Kathmandu, Nepal; Academy for the Environment, University of Nevada, Reno, USA; and the Tahoe Science Consortium, Incline Village, Nevada, USA.

Outside of work, I enjoy trail running, hiking, mountaineering, climbing, skiing, sketching, and spending time with family (including my two cats) and friends.
